South Africa Women finished their tour of Australia with a huge defeat. They were able to beat Australia Women for the first time in ODIs and won one T20I as well. But they lost overall ODI series and T20I series by 2-1 scoreline. They played only one Test Match as the last match of the series. But they lost it big time by an innings and 284 runs.
Australia Women won the toss and elected to field first. Darcie Brown(5/21) did not allow SA-W batters to score at all. Tahlia McGrath(2/4) and Annabel Sutherland(3/19) along with Brown bowled out SA-W for just 76 runs in 31.2 overs on Day one. In the reply, Aus-W lost Phoebe Litchfield(4), Ellyse Perry(3) and Tahlia McGrath(0) very early.
Beth Mooney(78) and captain Alyssa Healy steadied the ship. They both have put on 155-run partnership for the fourth wicket. All-rounder Annabel Sutherland joined captain after Mooney got out and she kept going after SA bowlers. Healy unfortunately missed her century at 99, as she threw away her wicket. Sutherland continued to score freely and scored double century.
She made 210 runs from 256 balls and Ashleigh Gardner(65), Sophie Molineux(33), Kim Garth(49) gave her ample support. Tail-enders made up for the top-order failure and hence, Aus-W scored 575/9 in 125.2 overs and declared the innings with a healthy lead of 499 runs. Chloe Tryon(3/81) and Masabata Klaas(3/85) bowled well for SA-W.
With huge deficit hanging on their head, SA-W had to bat out of their skins to even save the Test as a draw. Except for Delmi Tucker(64) and Chloe Tryon(64) no one could really resist Aussie bowlers. SA-W got bowled for just 215 in their second innings, giving Aus-W a huge win.
Annabel Sutherland showcased all-round skills with 210 runs with bat and 2/11 & 3/19 figures in bowling. Hence, she has been given Player of the Match and for important runs in dire need, Beth Mooney has been given Player of the Series award.
