Andre Russell blasted Australia out of the final match

West Indies team has been struggling against Australia in the recent tour. They shocked everyone with their win against Australia in the second Test but they got white-washed in the ODI series. In T20Is, where has been World Champions and have big stars playing around the world in T20 leagues, they still struggled. Finally, Andre Russell came good in the final match and they could win it to save face.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. They failed to get a good start and quickly got reduced to 17/3. They found slight counter back with Roston Chase(37) and Rovman Powell(21) taking the score above 75 in just 7 overs. But they fell in consecutive overs leaving WI on 79/5 in 9 overs. Andre Russell and Sherfane Rutherford have decided to put on a show, since then.

Till Russell got out in the final over, they both have put on 139 runs in just 10 overs. Andre Russell smacked Aussie bowlers all over the park and scored 71 runs from just 29 balls. Sherfane Rutherford gave him company with 67 runs from 40 balls. Because of their destructive partnership, WI scored 220/6 in just 20 overs after a poor start. Adam Jampa(1/65) and Spencer Johnson(1/49) took huge beating.

In the chase, David Warner continued his show of form and dominated WI bowlers. He scored 81 runs and single-handedly tried to take Aus to the winning shores. He scored runs so quickly that Aus were once 116/3 in 13.1 overs at the time he got out. Still, they had to score 105 runs to win and they couldn’t pull it off. Tim David scored a quick fire 41 runs off 19 balls in the fag end of the chase.

Australia managed to score 183/5 in their 20 overs and WI won the match by 37 runs. But Aus won the series by 2-1 scoreline and David Warner won the Player of the Series for scoring 178 runs in this series. Andre Russell showcased his hitting form and rightly, he became player of the match. IPL teams would have taken good note of his innings.
