Supreme Court bans Patanjali Ayurved from advertisement marketing

Supreme Court has found Patanjali Ayurved in contempt for continuing to advertising misleading ads about their medicure products. The Apex Court has asked Patanjali to not continue advertising such ads back in November. The company’s MD Acharya Balakrishna has told to court that they would continue such ads upon court took an issue with their promotional material.

Court found that company is violating after finding Prima facie evidence. Bench consisting of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah has issued show cause notices to Patanjali Ayurved and MD Acharya Balakrishna to tell the court, why they should not take action against them, for contempt of court.

Also, Supreme Court has issued temporary ban on the Patanjali product ads until they are given proper reasoning for the violation and change their marketing strategy for Court to believe. Indian Medical Association, IMA, has filed petition in Supreme Court stating that Patanjali is misleading audiences with their improper ads.

Court has even asked Union Government to take action against the company for misleading advertisements under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act 1954. Now, Court has cautioned Patanjali Ayurved from making any demeaning statement towards any modern or any system of medicine. Court has given the company two weeks time to respond.
