Union Government has been on search for Petroleum and Natural Gas deposits in India. They have been looking to produce high quality Gas and Oil to meet the requirements of ever-growing population and also worldwide needs. Reliance, ONGC and many other national, International Petroleum companies are trying to find more oil wells in various river basins.
Now, they have started operations to extract oil from Krishna-Godavari basin near Kakinada coast. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has confirmed about the same at the press interaction in Karnataka. He stated that across 30 kms of coast of Kakinada they have started operations to extract oil in 4 wells.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri said, “30 kilometres off the coast of Kakinada in the Krishna Godavari Basin, the first oil was extracted yesterday. Work started on this in 2016-17, then there were some delays due to COVID, but I’m sure that out of the 26 wells there, 4 wells are already operational.”
He continued to say, “We will not only have gas also in a very short period but by May and June, we hope to be able to produce 45,000 barrels per day, which will be 7 per cent of our total crude oil production and 7 per cent of our gas production.” Well, this is a great discover for Andhra Pradesh state and Kakinada region development. This should lead to major amount of distribution from India’s side to across the globe.
