Mohan Babu, one of the legendary film actors and celebrity personalities of Telugu Cinema, has decided to distance himself from Andhra Pradesh politics. He joined Telugu Desam Party way back in 90’s and then decided to work against Nara Chandrababu Naidu due to some ideological differences. He has been nominated to Rajya Sabha, as MP from TDP, at his peak popularity among the party cadre.
As educationalist, he continued to be neutral in terms of his political affiliation after leaving TDP. His son, Vishnu Manchu’s wife, Viranica Reddy’s family has close relation with current AP CM YS Jagan but Mohan Babu refrained himself from joining YSRCP until 2019. He campaigned for YSRCP in his Chittoor District and Tirupati.
Now, many reports have suggested that he could be hoping for a MP ticket or Rajya Sabha nomination from YSRCP in 2024. As general elections are near, the speculations have been growing with each passing day. But the actor has decided to distance himself from active politics. He stated the same in an open letter on social media.
He stated that he has been hearing some media reports using his name in political equations. Mohan Babu asked people and media outlets to refrain using his name connecting to any political party or activities. He stated that he is not involved in active politics and requested people to honor his decision.
