So, the party officials have come together to elect their next CM. In the run to this meeting, Sita Soren and Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren names have come up in the media circles. Hence, Kalpana Soren, becoming CM seemed to be a bigger problem for the party and its image overall. So, the leaders have elected Champei Soren, who is among the senior leadership and also holds transport ministry in the current government as their next CM. JMM has met Governor at Raj Bhavan and asked for permission to conduct oath ceremony with Champei Soren, as new CM of Jharkhand.

Hemant Soren, on the other hand, is said to be in neck deep trouble with ED charges in Land Scam case and money laundering. Until, the inquiry is over and he proves in innocence in courts, he won’t be eligible to hold CM’s office. Previously, late J. Jayalalitha, Lalu Yadav had to resign to their CM position under such corruption allegations and hand over their position to presumed No.2 in their party.
