The Andhra Pradesh state CM Chandrababu Naidu, has approved a new round of land pooling to support infrastructure development in Amaravati. This move aims to ensure that the state capital is equipped with top-tier educational, medical, and public facilities.
The cabinet meeting, held on Tuesday, agreed to create consistent rules under the Capital Region Land Pooling Scheme (Formulation & Implementation) Rules, 2025. These rules consider future growth and include measures to protect local water bodies, following guidelines set by the National Green Tribunal and Supreme Court. Information Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy announced that farmers taking part in the scheme will be offered improved compensation packages.
As part of the wider Amaravati development plan, the cabinet approved tenders for major construction works including the Integrated State Secretariat, the Head of Departments offices, and multiple administrative towers. It also gave the green light for key infrastructure such as utility ducts, water pipelines, sewer systems, electricity, and greenery at a cost of over ₹1,050 crore.
Additionally, approval was granted for a new road project—Phase III of E3 Road—which includes a six-lane elevated corridor, bridges, and connections to National Highway-16.
In efforts to support public welfare, seven new Anna Canteens will be built in rural areas, and two more will be opened in Kuppam and near the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The cabinet also approved new policies for adventure tourism and confirmed incentives for hospitality and leisure firms. Projects totalling ₹28,546 crore and expected to generate over 30,000 jobs were also cleared.
Other major decisions include upgrading thousands of mini anganwadi centres, granting land to a legal university in India, and approving repair works for irrigation tanks in Chittoor district.
