Actor Vishnu Manchu has called on the Telangana government to establish a commission dedicated to representing women in the Telugu film industry, aiming to enhance their safety and protection. He made this appeal via a post on the X platform.
As the “President of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), Vishnu Manchu has requested Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and the Cinematography Minister to create a commission focused on improving the security and safety of women working in the Telugu film industry”. Manchu emphasized the need for everyone to feel secure while working in front of the camera. He highlighted that MAA is committed to the industry’s development and welcomed suggestions from all stakeholders to establish a model for safety and empowerment.

The call for action comes in the wake of a significant report from the Justice Hema Committee, which has shaken the Malayalam film industry. This report has prompted many to share their experiences of sexual abuse. Manchu’s request for a commission reflects a broader demand for a thorough investigation into similar issues within the Telugu film industry.

In a social media post, she highlighted the importance of addressing gender discrimination following the release of the Justice Hema Committee report. Samantha noted that the report equates any form of gender discrimination with sexual harassment and calls for a transparent system to combat gender inequality.
