Director Venkatesh Atluri has revealed exciting news for fans of Lucky Bhaskar. In a recent interview, Venky Atluri confirmed that a sequel to the successful Dulquer Salmaan-starrer, Lucky Bhaskar, after Suriya 46, is in development. The filmmaker said he is currently working on the script, hinting that the story of Bhaskar is not over yet.
Lucky Bhaskar, released in 2024, earned positive reviews and was a box office success. Set in the late 1980s to early 1990s, the film follows the journey of a regular bank cashier in Bombay who finds himself caught in unexpected circumstances. Audiences praised the film’s gripping screenplay and nostalgic setting. Meenakshi Chaudhary played the female lead.
Venkatesh Atluri, who began his career as an actor and later worked as a writer, made his directorial debut with Tholi Prema starring Varun Tej. After delivering hits like Mr. Majnu and Rang De, he achieved major success with Vaathi (titled SIR in Telugu), starring Dhanush. However, Atluri made it clear that Vaathi will not have a sequel.
Currently, he is working on his next big project with Tamil superstar Suriya. Titled Suriya 46 for now, the film is under production and is expected to be a key project in the actor’s career. Once the Suriya film is complete, Atluri plans to begin work on the Lucky Bhaskar sequel.
Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan has a busy slate with films like Akasamlo Oka Thara, directed by Pavan Sadineni, and Kaantha.
Fans of Lucky Bhaskar can now look forward to another gripping chapter in Bhaskar’s story—coming soon from the director who brought him to life.
