Mega Prince Varun Tej’s highly anticipated period mass action entertainer, Matka, is in the final stages of production. The team is currently filming a crucial and intense action sequence featuring Varun Tej and a group of fighters. Directed by Karuna Kumar, Matka is produced by Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Thalluri under the banners of Vyra Entertainments and SRT Entertainments. Notably, this film marks the highest budgeted project in Varun Tej’s career.
As production wraps up, with post-production activities occurring simultaneously, the filmmakers have officially announced the release date for Matka. The movie is set to hit theaters on November 14th, just in time for Karthika Purnima, allowing it to take advantage of the long weekend and attract a larger audience.

Following the success of the film’s first look poster, the makers have unveiled a striking second look. In this latest poster, Varun Tej embodies an effortlessly elegant retro style, sporting a suit while casually walking down the stairs with a cigarette in hand. His portrayal exudes a masculine charm, showcasing a dapper appearance that has already garnered attention. This duality in his looks reflects the character’s evolution throughout the film.
The screenplay, penned by Karuna Kumar, features a compelling narrative set over 24 years, spanning from 1958 to 1982. The film showcases Varun Tej in four distinct avatars, each representing different phases of his character’s journey. The various looks have already been hinted at in both the first look and working stills, building anticipation among fans.
Joining Varun Tej in the film are actresses Meenakshi Chaudhry and Nora Fatehi, who will play the lead female roles. The music for Matka is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, while the cinematography is handled by A. Kishore Kumar. Karthika Srinivas R serves as the editor for the project.
