Koratala Siva to face Criminal charges for copyright infringement

Director Koratala Siva has been facing copyright infringement case for Mahesh Babu starrer, Srimanthudu movie from 2015. He has been alleged to have used base of a story, “Chachenta Prema” by Sarath Chandra to make the movie Srimanthudu. Koratala Siva condemned the allegations and the writer moved to Nampally Court in Hyderabad.

Court has directed criminal proceedings related to the case as they thought the evidence is implicative enough. Writer has submitted his published work and TFI Writers union has given their report about the same issue after going through the script of Srimanthudu and the story. Basing on both, Nampally Court has initiated criminal charges.

Srimanthudu is big turning point in the career of Koratala Siva and this kind of case will bring his reputation down. Hence, Koratala Siva, first challenged this verdict in Telangana High Court and the court has directed criminal charges to be proceeded just like Nampally Court. Hence, the director moved to Supreme Court.

Now, even Supreme Court has directed that criminal charges should be framed on the director as per other courts’ directives. So, the investigation regarding the same will start. The director is currently working on Devara film with Jr. NTR and he has decided to make the film in two parts. What implications will this new verdict will have on already delayed film production, will be? We have to wait and see.
