Roshan Meka has described his upcoming period sports drama Champion as a “huge responsibility”, acknowledging the high expectations surrounding the film as it prepares for a Christmas Day release. The Telugu-language production, directed by Pradeep Advaitham and produced by Swapna Cinema in collaboration with other banners, is generating significant buzz among audiences and critics alike.
Speaking at a promotional event in Visakhapatnam, Roshan revealed the immense pressure he feels ahead of the release. He shared that he had turned down other film offers to remain fully committed to Champion, waiting more than three years for the project to reach completion. The actor admitted that he had been tense until recently, only gaining confidence after viewing the final edit and trailer.
“I may not know how many films I’ll do each year, but I promise to give my 100 per cent so your trust in me always feels justified,” Roshan told the crowd, expressing gratitude to the producers and director for their unwavering belief in the project. He emphasised that every aspect of the film, from the script to the technical work, had been crafted with dedication.
Champion features Anaswara Rajan in the female lead, marking her Telugu debut, alongside a strong ensemble cast. The narrative follows a young footballer’s journey set against the backdrop of India in the late 1940s, blending sports, emotion, and patriotism. The songs and trailer released ahead of the premiere have already generated excitement, setting the stage for a high-octane theatrical experience.
Roshan also highlighted the efforts of the entire crew, including action choreographers, cinematographers, and other technical teams, noting that the project was a collaborative effort requiring precision and passion. Fans have shown immense enthusiasm, attending previews and promotional events, further amplifying expectations for the film.
As Champion gears up for its 25 December release, both the actor and the team remain optimistic that their hard work and dedication will resonate with audiences. For Roshan Meka, the film is more than a project—it is a commitment to delivering a performance worthy of the trust his fans have placed in him.
