Actress Rashmika Mandanna, often called the ‘national crush’, is once again facing criticism online. The popular actress, known for her hit pan-India films and strong roles, recently made a firm statement saying she will not act in films that show smoking scenes.

Speaking at a recent event, We The Women, Rashmika said, “I don’t smoke in real life, and I don’t support smoking in films either. I avoid such roles. If a film requires a smoking scene, I would rather leave the project.” She added that this is her personal opinion, and she stands by it.

However, netizens were quick to call her out. Many shared a scene from her past film Bheeshma, where she is seen holding a cigarette and appearing to smoke. Whether the cigarette was real or not, viewers argue that it goes against her current stance.

This is not the first time Rashmika has faced backlash for contradicting her public statements. In the past, she had said she would not accept roles that lack importance or are only limited to songs. But she was later seen in such a role alongside Mahesh Babu in Sarileru Neekevvaru, which led to similar trolling online.

Despite the criticism, Rashmika continues to be busy with several upcoming films, including The Girlfriend, Myssa, and Thama.

Her recent comment has sparked a debate on social media, with some supporting her right to change her views and others pointing out inconsistencies in her career choices. While her intention might be clear, the internet is not ready to let go of her past scenes so easily.
