For over 45 years, he has remained a superstar and a box office king, with producers confident in his ability to deliver hits. His latest release, Jailor, has collected an impressive ₹650 crore, making it one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of the year. Currently, Rajinikanth is the highest-paid actor not just in India but across Asia, reportedly earning ₹280 crore for his upcoming film Coolie.

At the start of his career, Rajinikanth earned only a few thousand rupees, receiving just ₹3,000 for his first film at the age of 16. He played the lead role for the first time in the 1975 film Bhairavi, which marked a turning point in his career, earning ₹50 lakh for that project. Following this success, his remuneration skyrocketed.
In the film Priya, directed by S.B. Muthuraman and produced by Panchu Arunachalam, Rajinikanth initially requested ₹35,000 for his role, but after learning that the film would be shot abroad, he revised his ask to ₹15,000. However, Arunachalam recognized Rajinikanth’s growing market value and insisted that he deserved more. He offered ₹1,10,000, marking the first time Rajinikanth’s remuneration crossed the one lakh mark. Today, he stands as the highest-paid actor in the industry.
