Superstar Rajinikanth, as Thalaivar of Tamil Cinema, grew in star power and fame across the world. He has die-hard fans in all Indian languages owing to his almost 50 year old career and legacy. On the other hand, Suriya Sivakumar, started out his career with flops and turned the tide around to earn fame across the nation. His popularity in Telugu language is equal some native stars in Telugu states.
But when it comes to overall impact and star power, Rajinikanth is miles ahead of Suriya. Well, fans of both the actors have started the battle royale on social media post Vettaiyan release date announcement. Until 19th August, the speculations about Thalaivar’s Vettaiyan release date have been going around. Some thought it would release for Diwali weekend.
Many thought with Suriya’s big budget historical epic Kanguva booking 10th October date, Vettaiyan might be forced to take Diwali date. But Lyca Productions have committed to release both Vettaiyan and Ajith Kumar’s Vidaa Muyarchi in same year to both the gigantic stars and OTT Platform, as well. Hence, they had to see the perfect dates for both the biggies to get return on their massive investments.
Rajinikanth after Jailer, wanted to have another event film starring him, to release in 2024 without fail. Also, after Lal Salaam debacle, he wanted to immediately compensate for Lyca Productions and also his fans. On the other hand, Ajith Kumar has put his foot down to production house to complete Vidaa Muyarchi soon, after multiple delays. His team even asked for confirmed Diwali release from production house, say sources.
With all this playing in the background, Lyca Productions had to complete both the biggies amidst cash crunch. They did and finally, they have asked makers to finish their products within the requested time limit. TJ Gnanavel, director of Suriya’s Jai Bhim, is interestingly directing Vettaiyan with Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati among the ensemble cast.
How will he react to clash and how will Suriya take the clash, we have to wait and see. But Rajinikanth has long before locked 10th October date and Studio Green’s KE Gnanavelraja, the producer of Kanguva, said that they would wait for Vettaiyan’s confirmation to announce their release date. And he promised to even avoid clash.
But with some belief that Vettaiyan would go to Diwali, Kanguva team announced October 10th date. Will he stay true to his words and avoid clash with Rajinikanth and if he does so, will he be ready to clash with Karthi’s Meiyazhagan and AK’s Vidaa Muyarchi? Discussing about these questions, fans of both the stars are targetting each other in form of trolls.
