Priyanka Chopra: No background makes the journey tougher

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra has admitted that her journey in Bollywood was not easy because she had no family connections in the film industry. The actress, now a global star, said that newcomers without any background are treated differently, which makes their struggle harder.

Priyanka, who won the Miss World title in 2000, entered Bollywood soon after her victory. She quickly became one of the leading heroines, but the early success did not shield her from challenges. In a recent interview, she explained that during her first two years, she realised how the industry worked. “If you don’t belong to a film family, you are often underestimated and ignored. I had to work very hard for every role,” she said.

These difficulties gave her the idea of starting her own production company. In 2015, Priyanka launched Purple Pebble Pictures, a banner aimed at supporting new talent without industry backing. She said her main goal was to make sure that aspiring actors, writers, and filmmakers would not have to face the same struggles she went through. The company’s first film was released in 2016, and since then, it has produced several projects.

Priyanka Chopra has not only proved herself in her journey as an actress but also as a successful producer. She believes in creating space for fresh voices in cinema and often talks about the need for equal opportunities. Her decision to support outsiders reflects the ongoing debate about nepotism in Bollywood, where star kids often get easier access compared to new faces.

Away from films, Priyanka’s personal life also keeps her in the spotlight. She married American singer Nick Jonas and has since settled in the United States. However, she continues to balance her Hollywood and Bollywood projects. At present, she is working on an ambitious film directed by S. S. Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu, where she will play a key role.

Priyanka Chopra’s rise from Miss World to a global icon is a story of persistence. By building her own platform for others, she has turned her personal challenges into opportunities that inspire the next generation of artists.
