Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Konda Surekha’s recent comments have ignited significant controversy, particularly after she dragged the Telugu film industry into political discourse while criticizing KTR, the president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). By mentioning the personal lives of prominent figures such as Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, and Nagarjuna, her remarks have gone viral and prompted strong backlash from the Akkineni family and others in the film industry.

In response to Surekha’s statements, various actors from the industry have voiced their outrage. NTR criticized the minister for bringing personal lives into political discussions, calling it a new low for political conduct. He emphasized the importance of maintaining respect and dignity, stating, “If leaders behave this way, what will happen to our country? We will not remain silent in the face of baseless allegations.”

Actor Nani echoed these sentiments, expressing his disgust at the irresponsible comments made by political leaders. He questioned the integrity of such remarks, stating, “It is unacceptable for someone in a position of respect to make unfounded allegations. This issue impacts not just film actors, but society as a whole. We must condemn actions that negatively affect the community.

Director Srikant Odela, who worked as an assistant director on the film “Rangasthalam,” also weighed in, praising Samantha’s contributions to the industry. He lamented that disrespectful comments only add to the challenges women face in pursuing their dreams in the film industry. “Such derogatory remarks exacerbate existing fears and reinforce gender inequality. Every woman should denounce this behavior,” he stated.

Khushboo, a well-known actress, criticized Surekha for her comments, asserting that only those devoid of values would make such statements for fleeting fame. She urged the minister to apologize for her baseless accusations and highlighted the need for dignity in public discourse. “Democracy in India is not a one-way street; we cannot stoop to such levels,” she said.

Writer Abboori Ravi also chimed in, stating, “The river does not need purification; it’s the mindset that requires cleansing. How low can one stoop?”
