Maruthi Nagar Subrahmanyam Movie Rating: 2/5
Rao Ramesh has grown into a dependable performer over the years. Any writer and director can trust him to carry off any sort of difficult and challenging character without fail. With him as the lead, writer-director Lakshman Karya tried to give us a satire comedy with Maruthi Nagar Subrahmanyam. Let’s discuss about the movie in detail.
Plot:
Subrahmanyam(Rao Ramesh) from Maruthi Nagar desires to become a Government Employee but for 25 years his DSC job is left in hanging due to court case. He doesn’t move on and get another job while his wife(Indraja) runs the family. His son, Arjun(Ankith Koyya) stays in a illusion that he belongs to a rich family. Suddenly, Subramanyam receives Rs.10 Lakhs in his bank account. Why did he receive? What happened next? Watch the movie Maruti Nagar Subrahmanyam to know more.
Analysis:
Rao Ramesh, once again proved that he can pull off any kind of a character. His comic timing and antics does evoke some laughs. Ankith Koyya, Ramya Pasupuleti, Harsha Vardhan and Indraja did their best but their characters are written in a bad manner. Even Rao Ramesh after a point doesn’t engage us.
Maruthi Nagar Subrahmanyam kind of films need a farcical comedy kind of narration. Every character needs to have been dumb in a world filled with dumber people. Here, we don’t get such kind of characters with funny moments laced around their dumb actions. It just feels random with characters being clever and dumb, at random places.
Writer lacks maturity to handle the content in complete comical way or in complete serious way. In mixing them both, he failed to get the amalgamation right. Even supposed comedy scenes don’t really flow at all. Everything feels random and unexciting. On the whole, this Maruthi Nagar Subrahmanyam doesn’t deserve our visit.
Positives:
Rao Ramesh’s screen presence
Background score
Few comic scenes
Negatives:
Lethargic Narrative
Random scenes
Comedy doesn’t work
Drags a bit too much in climax
Maruthi Nagar Subrahmanyam Movie Bottom-line: Let him stay away!
