AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu visited Atchutapuram SEZ area in Anakapalli after tragic reactor explosion in Escentia Pharma Group building. He inspected the area of explosion with officials. More than 16 people have been killed and 50 people have been injured in this mishap. After visiting the area of explosion, he enquired Collector and officials about the details behind the accident.
Later, he visited injured victims at the hospital and even few families of dead people, too. Afterwards he conducted a meeting with every government official and asked them for detailed reports about the accident. Visibly disturbed, CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu addressed media about the incident.
Addressing safety concerns in various industries, he stated that government is serious about following safety regulations. He asked every industry to complete safety audit and submit detailed reports. Further, Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced Rs.1 crore compensation to each dead victim’s family and Rs.50 Lakhs to severely injured, Rs.25 lakhs to slightly injured victims, each.
He expressed concern over growing accidents and mishaps in several industries located in Vizag. Nara Chandrababu Naidu stated that in last years over 120 people died in 119 accidents in Vizag industries only. He stated that all companies in Red category should follow Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs. He concluded by promising that people responsible for the accident will be punished post high-level committee’s probe.
