‘Little Hearts’ wins hearts, Sai Marthand reveals legendary family link

Little Hearts

Little Hearts has not only won the love of audiences but also revealed an interesting family link to Telugu cinema. The film, which is being praised as a feel-good entertainer, marks the debut of young director Sai Marthand. What surprised many is that Sai is the grandson of legendary filmmaker B.V. Prasad, who worked with icons such as N.T. Rama Rao.

Audiences have responded warmly to Little Hearts, saying it feels refreshing at a time when several big-budget, star-driven films have failed at the box office. Instead of heavy action or glamour, the film focuses on strong content, which has struck a chord with viewers. For Sai, the film’s success is extra special as it proves that new talent can shine when given the right opportunity.

Sai credited his producer, the director of #90s, for trusting him with full creative freedom. That trust has clearly paid off, as his storytelling and direction have earned positive reviews.

When speaking about his family background, Sai revealed that his grandfather B.V. Prasad directed nearly 20 films, including Aradhana, Melukolupu, Krishnathodu, and Chuttalunnaru Jagratha. Prasad passed away in 1990, after which no one in the family stayed in the film industry. Sai’s father, Gopinath, produced a few films but later moved away from cinema. Sai admitted that bringing his family name back into films after so many years makes the success of his debut even more meaningful.

Interestingly, Sai once dreamed of becoming an actor. But with limited chances for newcomers, he turned to writing and discovered his love for storytelling. At just 19, he wrote his first love story, which gave him the confidence to pursue a career in cinema.

With Little Hearts now a recognised hit, Sai says he already has a few scripts ready for his next projects. His journey, he hopes, will live up to his grandfather’s legacy. Audiences, too, are wishing him success, believing that B.V. Prasad’s grandson could grow into a director of great promise.
