Bhansali had initially approached Kangana for the special song before Priyanka Chopra was cast. Kangana declined, stating, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali asked me to perform a special song in Ram Leela, but I refused. Everyone thought I was crazy for turning it down. I won’t take on such roles, whether it’s Bhansali or anyone else.” After Kangana’s refusal, Aishwarya Rai was approached but did not take the role, and Priyanka Chopra ultimately performed the song, which became one of Bollywood’s biggest hits.
Kangana has also turned down roles in notable films such as Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju, Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Sultan. She explained that her decision not to work with Salman, Aamir Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan was based on similar reasons.
