The State Cyber Crime police have arrested three key accused in the ‘Jananayagan’ movie piracy case that rocked the Tamil film industry. A case registered in connection with the online leak of the movie, authorities have arrested three main accused who have taken up the in-depth investigation.
According to the police report regarding this case, the main accused who was arrested in this case was working as a freelance assistant editor. When he went to the studio for another movie editing work.. he had unauthorized access and stole the reels of the movie ‘Jananayagan’ there. The investigation revealed that he converted the stolen data into a full-fledged movie and sent it to his associates. Officials have confirmed that this is the reason why the film has circulated on the internet.
In this case, six people were arrested earlier, but recently these three key masterminds have been detained. After examining the digital evidence in their possession, the accused were produced in the court and sent to judicial remand. The film industry has expressed its appreciation for the speedy investigation carried out by the cyber crime department.
The cyber crime department has issued warnings to the public regarding this incident. Downloading, streaming or sharing piracy content to others is a legal offence. Anyone who forwards piracy links or promotes them on social media will face strict legal consequences. Also, if any piracy content or suspicious links are found, the authorities should be informed immediately.
