The famous tech company TCS Nashik BPO affair has become a sensation across the country. Some high-ranking Muslim employees were accused of targeting Hindu women and other employees in a conspiracy. The accused are facing charges of sexual harassment of women, forced religious conversions, and actions that harm religious beliefs.
Now this case has reached to Supreme Court. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court stating that such acts fall under the ambit of acts of terrorism. In the petition, it was requested to issue directions to the central and state governments to take strict measures to prevent illegal conversions. The petitioner argued that the TCS Nashik case was not an isolated case but was part of a larger organized and coercive campaign. The counsel for the petitioner told the Supreme Court that fraudulent and forced religious conversions are a serious threat to the unity and security of the country. The petitioner has argued that it falls under an organized conspiracy funded by foreign corporations to alter India’s population balance. Such activities are considered dangerous to the integrity of the country and therefore sought to be considered under the laws related to terrorism. The petition asserted that the right to freedom of religion is not absolute and is subject to public safety and morality.
In this case, 9 victims have filed a complaint against the accused. Most of them are women. FIRs have been registered against the accused for offenses such as inappropriate touching, lewd comments and sexual harassment. Nashik Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik said that the seven accused in the case were working as a group and committed the anarchy. In this case, 8 people including seven men and one woman were arrested, HR manager Nida Khan who helped them was escaped. In the wake of the controversy, TCS Nashik operations have been temporarily suspended. Ordered to work from home till further orders.
