Guntur Kaaram is the third collaboration from Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas combination who delivered films like Athadu and Khaleja. They took a gap of 14 years to join hands again for a film and the expectations are sky high for this one. Movie has released on 12th January, in theatres worldwide. Let’s discuss about the film, now.

Plot:
Few people burn down the Mirchi Yard owned by Satyam(Jayaram). In the follow up chaos, Narayana’s brother-in-law slits throat of Lenin(Sunil). Marx(Jagapathi Babu) files a case on the family and in the accident, Ramana(Mahesh Babu) son of Satyam and Vasundhara(Ramya Krishnan). Satyam gets arrested and sentenced for 12 years jail term.

Vasundhara walks away from the house leaving behind Ramana as an orphan. Now, politically influential Venkata Swamy(Prakash Raj) decides push Ramana completely away from his daughter and current minister, Vasundhara’s life. Why? How Ramana counters this? Watch the movie Guntur Kaaram to know more.

Analysis:

Trivikram Srinivas has left a mark for himself as wizard of words in TFI. His way of writing screenplay and delivering complicated emotions in simplistic way has been highly praised over the past two decades. Hence, he got the name as Guruji. His typical style has been exemplary for many as well but that can sometime become a hazard or easy escape route. Guntur Kaaram does suffer with such routine Trivikram Mark template but then recovers with some strong emotional scenes.

Mahesh gives it all in dances, dialogue delivery and comedy timing

Majorly, movie belongs to Mahesh Babu and in a character like Ramana, he did give his best. In every scene, every song and dance bits he excelled. Action parts too have been good from his point of view but not as well as earlier movies like Khaleja or Athadu. He gave everything to the film and it is performance that stands out in it. Next best is Prakash Raj in an outwardly cunning and selfish person role. Ramya Krishnan, Jayaram, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh are good.

Sreeleela excelled in dances and Meenakshi Chaudhary has made a guest appearance. Editing could have been better for this film as the flow to be missing at different places. Visuals by Manoj Paramahamsa are good but nothing stands out. Music by S Thaman could’ve been much better. On the whole, Guntur Kaaram is watchable with families for Sankranti festival.

Bottom-line: “Ramana” steals the show!
