Director Gowtam Tinnanuri, known for his emotional storytelling, is back with a new Telugu film titled Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda. The film is all set to release on 31 July, and promotions have officially begun.
Eight years ago, Gowtam made his directorial debut with Malli Raava, a romantic drama that brought actor Sumanth a much-needed success. The film also introduced actress Aakanksha Singh to Telugu cinema. Malli Raava was a soft hit, and it helped Gowtam earn a name for himself.
Gowtam’s next big step came with Jersey, starring Nani. This emotional sports drama became a huge success in Telugu and showcased Gowtam’s talent. Later, he remade Jersey in Hindi with Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur. While it didn’t perform well at the box office, it was appreciated for its emotional depth.
Now, Gowtam is returning to Telugu cinema with Kingdom, under the same Sitara Entertainments banner that produced Jersey. Vijay Deverakonda plays the lead role, and Bhagyashree Borse stars as the heroine. Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, whose work has already built buzz around the movie.
During promotions, Gowtam revealed that he originally wanted to make Malli Raava with Vijay Deverakonda, but it didn’t work out. Fans are now imagining how that version might have looked. Gowtam added that once he thought of making a film with Vijay, he created a gangster story about two brothers—which became Kingdom.
He praised Vijay’s hard work on the film and said he is confident that it will reflect on screen. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for Animal, also joined the promotions and said he loved Vijay’s first look in Kingdom and the scenes built around it.
Kingdom is one of the most awaited Telugu films of the season.
