Sundar C has made a name for himself with comic entertainers. He made hit franchise out of his horror comedy Aranmanai/ Chandrakala. He has a habit of repeating his leads from previous films within the franchise and he repeated himself and Raashii Khanna, Kovai Sarala for this one while adding Tamannaah Bhatia to this franchise as a leading lady. What does Aranmanai 4/ Baak has to offer? Let’s discuss in detail

Plot:
A lawyer Shivashankar(Sundar C) loves his estranged sister Shivani(Tamannaah Bhatia) so much that he would go to any length to help people with her name. He receives a heartbreaking news that Shivani has committed suicide as her husband(Santosh Pratap) died due to cardiac arrest.

To take care of her two young children, he travels to the palace that his brother-in-law decided to renovate. There, he finds a Swamiji(Ramachandra Raju) mysteriously roaming around the palace. He tries to find and unveil the mystery behind Baak. Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis::
Tamannaah Bhatia has been able to prove herself as a performer whenever she gets a chance. In this one, even though she had over melodramatic scenes, she pulled them off convincingly. But director cleverly, did not try to scare us using her for most part. Raashii Khanna did not have much to do and Ramachandra Raju pulled off Swamiji role well enough. Sundar C is okay in his parts and Simran in a song, showcased her dancing skills again.

Kovai Sarala is good while Vennela Kishore and Srinivasa Reddy managed a few laughs here and there. They majorly had prolonged comic scenes and hence, at times irritated due to the length of those scenes. Sundar C is known for over-the-top comedy scenes and for pulling them off convincingly. Here, he did pull off few horror scenes at places but did not have similar grip in comic scenes.

The template of using one horror scene followed by few comedy scenes did not really have similar effect as in first film. Even the investigation portions and reveal about Baak, did not really have that much of weight for us to be involved with it. He just tried to use the franchise name and deliver a time pass comedy. For the fans of the franchise and director, this could work but rest all, this movie appears as nothing fresh or new.

Positives:
Tamannaah Bhatia scenes
Few horror elements
Few jokes
VFX work at places

Negatives:
Template story
Repetitive scenes even in this one
Impact less narrative
Over stretched first hour

Aranmanai 4/ Baak Movie Bottom-line: A lethargic attempt
