Animal producers move to court about profit-sharing

Animal movie producers include T-Series, Bhadrakali Pictures and Cine1 Studios. They have come together to produce the movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna on a huge scale. Bhadrakali Pictures belongs to writer-director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and his brother Pranay Reddy Vanga. T-Series has produced Hindi version of their previous film, Arjun Reddy as Kabir Singh.

Hence, they have entered into a contract to make Animal and Spirit with Prabhas, as well. Sandeep Reddy also announced Animal Park and the sequel will be produced by three involved parties, if all is well. Cine1 Studios head, Murad Ketani, has moved to court against OTT streaming platform release of the film. He stated that proper sharing of revenues, that is, profits acquired has not been done.

He alleged that T-Series has been unfair and hiding the details regarding costs and profits. He asked Court to give stay on OTT release of the film, too. He stated that Cine1 Studios is entitled to 35% of profits from theatrical and profits acquired from intellecutal rights of the film in future. So, Cine1 Studios accused T-Series of violating that agreement made between them.

T-Series in reply stated to Court that Cine1 Studios never asked them about the production costs incurred in the last 4 years. Even though they have been ready to share, Murad Ketani never made an effort said T-Series. They have also stated that the suit is premature as the agreed upon 70-day period has not passed from 1st December, 2023 release date.

They have also stated that an amedment has been made to original contract and Cine1 Studios gave up Intellectual Property and derivative rights for Rs.2.5 crores stake in 2022. Murad Ketani has dismissed these claims and stated that T-Series is looking to exclude them from sharing profits post such huge success of the film, due to greed.
