Television anchor and actress Anasuya Bharadwaj has responded strongly but calmly to online trolls who criticised her fashion choices. In a heartfelt note posted on Instagram, she addressed the judgement she faces about her clothes, saying it’s time people learn to accept differences instead of targeting others.
Without using harsh words, Anasuya asked clear and bold questions: “Is being brave disrespectful? Is dressing to suit one’s taste wrong?” She made it clear that being fashionable and confident does not take away from her values.
Anasuya said she has remained silent for a while but felt the need to speak now—not with anger, but with clarity. She especially pointed out that some female speakers on social media have been unfairly targeting her and speaking about her personal life without even knowing her.
“I am a woman, a wife, and a mother of two. Still, I wear what suits my personal taste. Glamour, style, and confidence have always been part of my identity,” she wrote. She added that some people believe mothers shouldn’t dress glamorously but questioned whether motherhood means giving up one’s true nature.
Anasuya said her family—her husband and children—love and support her regardless of what she wears. “They don’t judge me. That matters the most,” she said.
She also mentioned that her sons see her as a confident, kind, and respectable woman, and there is no shame in that. “Being brave is not the same as being disrespectful. Dressing how I like doesn’t mean I’ve lost my values,” she explained.
This note came after a YouTube journalist questioned her clothing on a talk show, asking if such outfits were suitable for a mother. In response, Anasuya shared her views publicly, urging people to stop judging others’ life choices and instead promote peaceful coexistence.
