Akkineni Nagarjuna gets stay from HC against N Convention Centre demolition

Akkineni Nagarjuna, the big star of Telugu Cinema, has ventured into real estate and hospitality businesses two decades ago. He built N Convention Centre and inaugurated it in 2010. Since then the building has been facing encroachment allegations. Apparently, the centre has been constructed at Full Tank Level of Lake Tummidikunta.

From past 14 years, several political leaders have been promising to demolish the construction and take action against the popular actor. On the other hand, Akkineni Nagarjuna has moved to court against such allegations and notices issued by Telangana Government regarding the same. High Court has issued stay orders against demolition of the centre, previously.

On 24th August, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection, HYDRAA Department officials took sudden bulldozer action on the centre. Then demolished N Convention centre. As the demolition act is going on Akkineni Nagarjuna issued a press statement insisting on the land belonging to private party and it being a Patta (documented) land and they did not encroach the lake.

He also stated that they did not commit any kind of unlawful activites in constrution of the centre and several people have been going against him to damage his reputation in his press statement. He expressed his dissatisfaction on officials not issuing notices before demolition.

On the other hand, HYDRAA officials stated that they have been receiving numerous complaints regarding encroaching of Tammidikunta Lake. Hence, they took action against N Convention. Currently, Akkineni Nagarjuna moved to High Court against demolition. His lawyers pushed a lunch motion and Court issued stay to stop demolition with immediate effect.

Nagarjuna confirmed further that he would go to Court against the unlawful demolition. He exclaimed had High Court decided that he encroached the lake land, he would have himself demolished the construction. He expressed dissatisfaction in government not waiting for court’s decision, when issue has been in legal tussle for several years.
