The release of Akhanda 2: Tandavam, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Srinu, is now expected to be delayed. The makers had earlier confirmed that the film would hit the screens on 25 September, and shooting was completed with this date as the target. But post-production work has taken longer than planned, making the original schedule difficult to keep.
According to industry reports, the team is now planning to release the film on 4 or 5 December instead. This decision is also influenced by the release of OG, a major project starring Power Star Pawan Kalyan under the direction of Sujith, which is set to arrive on 25 September. Releasing two big films on the same day could impact box office collections, so the makers of Akhanda 2 appear to be taking a cautious step.
December is seen as a favourable month for major Telugu releases. The first Akhanda film also released in the first week of December and went on to become a blockbuster. The makers hope the sequel will repeat that success if it arrives during the same period.
Meanwhile, the promotions for OG have already begun, and Pawan Kalyan’s fans are eagerly waiting for the film, which is less than a month away from release. The clash between Akhanda 2 and OG was much discussed, but now it looks like both films will avoid competing directly at the box office.
The issue of clashing release dates is becoming a bigger problem in the Telugu film industry. With more big-budget projects being made, producers are struggling to find safe dates that do not affect openings. While this reshuffle may disappoint fans of Balakrishna, it could help the film secure a stronger run once it finally reaches cinemas.
