Dwaraka is believed to be a prominent city constructed by Lord Shree Krishna in Arabian Sea islands near Gujarat. Archeology department has investigated and determined an ancient city used to exist near modern day Dwaraka under sea. Also, near by areas are said to be drowned under the sea and remains of some ancient city parts are found in the digging near the site as well. A Dwarakadish Temple exists near sea and that is said to be constructed by Krishna’s grandchildren after Dwaraka drowned. It is regarded one of Char-Dham yatra for piligrims and attracts huge number of piligrims every year.

The temple city has named Dwaraka and it has become a huge piligrimage for Hindus and Lord Krishna worshippers around the world. Archeology department has stopped excavations and exploration in 1990’s to safe guard the marine life near the city remains under sea. But many visitors, tourists and piligrims want to visit under sea city remains as they want to visit Lord Krishna’s city like they are able to visit Brundavan, Mathura, Govardhan places that talk about his childhood.

Now, Gujarat Government in order to increase tourist income and develop Dwaraka as a tourist attraction as well, has decided to introduce submarine service to drowned Dwaraka city remains. Which means, tourists and piligrims can now go on a submarine deep under water to visit the drowned city remains. Government has decided to give permission of going under the sea, upto the depth of 300 meters to visit Drowned ancient Dwaraka city remains.

Lord Krishna devotees are happy with this news. They have been waiting for such an opportunity. if Marine life and ecological balance in the area are undisturbed and submarine service does make sure that visitors won’t trouble the life marine life and also submarine fuel emissions won’t have long-term effects on the marine biology in the area, this is a great plan. Let’s hope that the government will answer to the curiosity of tourists with divine experience for devotees and also consider environmentalists concerns in execution.
