Sheik Hasina resigned after Bangladesh youngsters agitated against reservation

Bangladesh has been going through tortuous times recently. People have come on roads in protest against Prime Minister Sheik Hasina’s government. The agitations have escalated to violent protests as government deployed police to suppress the unrest. Now, Sheik Hasina has fled the country after resigning from her position.

Army took over the governance in Bangladesh and they have even shut down the internet services for a while in the nation. Students started agitations after Court ruled in favour of 30% quota in reservations for freedom fighters. Protestors started coming on the roads and put on demonstrations against the quota. They asked complete abolishment while Sheik Hasina denied about the same.

As protestors increased and they threatened to occupy Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh, police opened fire on several agitating groups. While PM Sheik Hasina did invite few student leaders for peaceful dialogue. They refused her invitation and decided to continue protests. She stated that she doesn’t these agitations to turn violent.

In the police firing, 300 people have been killed and thousands got injured. Hence, the protestors announced that they will storm into Sheik Hasina’s official residence. After knowing their plan, Hasina deployed Army to block entrances of Dhaka and fled from the country to a safer place from Bangladesh.

As per the reports, she asked Indian PM Narendra Modi to clear route for her through India to London from Dhaka. Narendra Modi agreed to her request and she landed in New Delhi on 5th August. She will fly to London in an undisclosed flight as Indian Air Force is tracking her journey. Meanwhile, Army has decided to bring unrests to an end with military rule in Bangladesh.
