Stock Markets Update: Indices lose heavily on 2nd January

Stock Markets ended 2nd Jan session with huge losses

Stock Markets lost heavily on 2nd January, 2024 after trending flat on 1st. Traders seem to have gone for major selling off and did not look to secure investments. Indices have lost their huge lifetime benchmarks. International Stock Markets too did not have much impact. Hence, BSE lost 379.46 points to close at 71,892.48 and Nifty lost 76.10 points to close at 21,665.80 mark.

BSE Sensex started trading high at 72,332.85 mark and then continued to trade between 72,332.85 to 71,613.74 range. Index never showed any potential to recover and trade in gains throughout the session. Towards the end, it did recover from major losses. Hence, BSE ended the trading session at 71,892.48 by losing 379.46 points.

Nifty Sensex started trading at 21,751.35 mark and it hit highest for the day at 21,755.60. Nifty50 hit the lowest at 21,555.65. Index started trading lower than previous closing and kept oscillating in the red. Towards the end recovered slightly from huge losses. Nifty50 ended by losing 76.10 points on 21,665.80.

Indian Rupee traded at Rs.83.31 against US Dollar on 2nd January, 2024. Traders seem to have been effected by Truck Drivers protest and also Japanese natural disaster. Majority of the big stocks saw losses and this drove even Stock Markets to big losses this session. Experts are predicting possible negative effect of protest and rumours about petrol/diesel pricing.
