West Indies have decided to blow the wheels off the dream USA campaign. The co-host team did not give USA any chance to fight in this match. Being an associate and a nation trying to make their mark in International Cricket, USA shocked Pakistan and almost pulled off a miraculous chase against South Africa.
Against West Indies though, their bowlers did not have any answers. Even batters struggled to give a decent challenge to scary hitters of WI. Earlier, West Indies team won the toss and elected to field first. USA’s star batter Andries Gous(29) once again fired but rest of them did not have any considerable contributions.
Hence, USA bundled out for 128 runs in 19.5 overs. Roston Chase(3/19), Andre Russell(3/31), Alzarri Joseph(2/31) and Gudakesh Motie(1/14) took wickets for the Caribbean team. Among all Chase picked up wickets and even strangled USA batters in the middle overs.
In the chase, Shai Hope took on the USA bowlers from ball one. He scored 82 runs from just 39 balls and Nicholas Pooran also scored 27 runs from 12 balls to assist him in completing the chase in 11th over. West Indies scored 130/1 in 10.5 overs and won the match by 9 wickets with 55 balls remaining.
Now, the Caribbean team has a chance to knock out South Africa in their last match of Super Eights, NRR wise. England, if weather permits, should be able to beat USA and they would hope for a handsome win with huge margin for NRR boost. If West Indies win against South Africa, then the safari team might find themselves eliminated for losing only one match of their campaign.
