Rohan Bopanna has been one of the great competitiors in Lawn Tennis from India. He has been working hard to win a grand slam from past decade and half. He has been changing partners for his Mixed Doubles and Doubles tournaments. Finally, he won by collaborating with Matthew Ebden for Men’s Doubles at Australian Open 2024.
At the age of 43 years, he has become the oldest to become No.1 and win a grand slam in Doubles. Entire India wished him best for competing at the highest level for so many years without giving up. He and Ebden kept competing against Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, throughout the match. They won by scoring 7(7) – 6(0), 7-5.
Rohan thanked his wife for keeping him motivated to compete even when he wanted to give up. On the other hand, Jannik Sinner has won his first Grand Slam after winning against Daniil Medvedev. He won against reigning champion Novak Djokovic in the Semi-Final and came back after losing first two sets against favorite Medvedev.
In Women’s singles, Aryna Sabalenka, once again won Australia Open in 2024 after winning 2023 title. Before the tournament, Rafael Nadal has decided to drop from the championship due to injury. He has been in rehabilitation from past one year and re-occurence of the injury might push him to retire before or after French Open, which has been his most successful slam.
