IPL 2024: SRH wins against MI in a high-scoring thriller

SRH have been able to score all-time highest score for any team in IPL. In reply, Mumbai Indians have come closer to the target and scored their highest ever as well. But the runs seemed too much for MI batters to chase it all down even though Tilak Varma did keep them in the hunt until his stay ended at the crease.

Earlier, MI won the toss and elected to field first on a batting friendly wicket. Travis Head has given a destructive start to the innings with 62 from 24 balls and Abhishek Sharma followed it by 63 runs from 23 balls. Heinrich Klaasen gave a great ending to the innings with brutal 80 runs innings. SRH has scored all-time highest score in IPL history, 277/3.

With a record breaking chase in sight, MI did not lose hope. Rohit Sharma(26) could not continue but scored at 216 strike rate. Every MI batter followed the suite except for Hardik Pandya(24). Mainly, Tilak Varma with massive 64 from 34 kept MI always in the hunt till his stay ended at the crease. Ishan Kishan(34) and Naman Dhir(30) also added their valuable contributions.

Tim David took his time to start hitting but scored 42 from 22 balls and tried his best. Romario Shepherd scored 15 runs from 6 balls in the end. MI ended with 246/5 in their 20 overs and even though they lost they have sent shivers down other team camps with their never give-up attitude. SRH won this match by 31 runs in the end even after scoring 277.

This match saw bowlers being murdered by batters brutally and as many as 38 sixes have been hit, in the match. Well, these kind of matches does give much necessary boost to viewership as the chasing team did not give up looking at such a huge target. SRH have set this highest score record by crossing RCB’s 263/5 in 2013.
