SRH qualifies to second place to IPL Playoffs

SRH, Sunrisers Hyderabad, in IPL 2024 have been a huge revelation as a batting side. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have been giving them great starts in the powerplay and this helped them put up more than 250 scores thrice.

Now, SRH has qualified for IPL Playoffs at second place after winning in thundering style against PBKS. The team looks set for another title winning campaign like in 2016 as a strong unit.

While the rain threat has been lurking around Hyderabad, it stayed away from Uppal Stadium till the match ended. PBKS, Punjab Kings, won the toss and elected to bat first.

Atharva Taide(46) and Prabhsimran Singh gave an aggressive start to the innings with 97 runs partnership for the first wicket in 9 overs. Rilee Rossouw continued the momentum and put on a 54-run partnership for the second wicket.

Prabhsimran Singh scored 71 runs from 45 balls and got dismissed for an excellent catch by wicket keeper Heinrich Klaasen. Rilee Rossouw(49), Jitesh Sharma(32) took the PBKS score above 200 and they scored 214/5 in 20 overs. T Natarajan(2/33), Pat Cummins(1/36), Vijayakanth Viyaskanth(1/37) took wickets for SRH but bowling unit did not perform as anticipated.

In the chase, SRH lost their aggressive opener Travis Head(0) for the first ball. Opener Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi(33) continued their aggressive approach. They have put on 72 runs partnership for the second wicket in just 4.5 overs.

Abhishek Sharma kept his blitzkrieg going and scored 66 runs from just 28 balls. Keeping the momentum going, young Sensational player Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 37 runs from 25 balls.

Later, Heinrich Klaasen kept the foot on the pedal and scored 42 runs from 26 balls taking SRH to another massive win. Abdul Samad(11) finished the innings and they scored 215/6 in 19.1 overs.

With this win, SRH have ended their league stage with 17 points and on second place with better NRR than Rajasthan Royals, RR. They will play KKR in their first playoff match in Ahmedabad on 21st May 2024.
