BCCI and IPL governing council have decided to not conduct IPL 2024 in foreign shores but in India, only. Many reports suggested that previous season winners CSK will host the first match against the runners up, GT. While CSK will host the tournament opener, they will be playing Royal Challengers Bangalore, RCB.
The start for IPL 2024 will be a blockbuster as the match will be pitted as one last one, possibly, where MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli will come face to face. As of now, will CSK play RCB again or not is a mystery. IPL 2024 schedule has been announced for first 21 matches starting from March 22nd till April 7th.
Hence, the first leg of the tournament is scheduled for now. BCCI will announce the second leg of the tournament post the election commission announces the general body elections notification. So, there are high chances of BCCI conducting IPL till May end giving very less time for preparation to players for CWC T20I 2024, that begins from 1st June.
BCCI could request franchises to relive the big stars who will be participating in T20I World Cup to keep them fit and available. We have to wait and see, if franchises will be ready to relive players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreryas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul in such a case.
Good news is that Rishabh Pant is expected to return as captain and star player of Delhi Capitals, this season. Let’s wait and see, how he will perform and how MS Dhoni will perform, in what possibly, could be his last season in IPL, ever.
