Rishabh Pant has been hyped up to be next MS Dhoni for Indian Cricket. His flamboyant style and fearless attitude in batting made him more popular while he did show some acrobatic flexibility behind the stumps. He pulled off some impossible shots from awkward positions and played all round the ground like a 360 degree player.
But his white-ball game took a dip with his focus on red ball increasing. He tried to become a reliable middle-order batter for Indian team in Tests outside India while he did not find similar form in white-ball formats. He led India to famous victories in Australia and England with his batting skills and the lone warrior kind of innings in Australia have made him much more fan favorite.
Still, his game has been compared with MS Dhoni, an all-time great, so much that he felt the pressure. At the time, when his place in white ball team has been under the scanner and his selection for World Cup squads has come under question, he tragically, been part of a deadly accident. He could have lost his life in such deadly crash but he survived and he lost his entire knee.
Doctors have worked on reconstructing it and they have stated that it could be difficult for Pant to pursue his dream to play cricket once again. But he kept working hard and he kept posting his recovery over his social media page as timely short vlogs on Instagram. Now, he made a comeback after 2 years to IPL 2024 as captain of Delhi Capitals.
He stated that he is not thinking about the future or how he is going to play. But he wants to enjoy the sport and enjoy playing in the middle on the field. Delhi Capitals have readily accepted him to play in the middle order at his usual No.4 and he also started wicket keeping for them and take on skipper duties. It is a gritty comeback indeed!
