Punjab Kings have been trying to find a good middle-order finisher for their side from few seasons. While they have tried some, they have found a great talent in this season, IPL 2024. Shashank Singh single-handedly took the game away from GT, who looked to be comfortably winning in this match till 14th over. He won a last ball thriller for PBKS against GT.
Earlier, PBKS won the toss and elected to field first. Shubman Gill took his time to settle and scored his first fifty of the season. Kane Williamson(26) and Sai Sudharsan(33) gave him good support. Rahul Tewatia with a good cameo of 23 from 8 balls took the score to 199/4 in 20 overs. Gill ended just short of century on 89.
In the chase, Jonny Bairstow(22) and Prabhsimran Singh(35) scored quickly but failed to convert their starts. Shikhar Dhawan failed in this game. When Punjab looked completely out of game, Shashank Singh came in and started attacking GT spinners. He found his rhythm very early and that inspired even another youngster Ashutosh Sharma(31) to get in some big hits at the right time.
Jitesh Sharma(16) good some good runs too. Shashank Singh saw PBKS through the innings as the chase took many twists and turns till the last ball. PBKS chased down 200 target on the penultimate ball. They won the match by 3 wickets after scoring 200/7 in 19.5 overs. Shashank Singh can be find of the season, if he continues his form.
