Virat Kohli scored first century of IPL 2024 against RR. He played from first ball till the last ball of the innings. He scored 113 runs from 72 balls and helped RCB put on a score of 183/3 in 20 overs. But the bowlers could not rise to the occasion and defend the score on Jaipur pitch. RR calculatively, decided to use dew for their advantage and as per their wish, dew came down heavily.
Jos Buttler, who has been out of form in this season, came good in this match. After losing Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second ball itself, the veteran had to take the responsibility upon himself to take RR to the winning shores. Captain Sanju Samson also took his time against good bowling.
They both have put on 148 runs from 14.2 overs after Jaiswal got out. Sanju Samson scored 69 runs off 42 balls and set up the victory for RR. Jos Buttler continued his innings and took RR home by getting to his hundred with a six on the last ball of the innings. He looked doubly happy carrying his bat through the innings. He scored 100 runs off 58 balls.
RR won the match with 6 wickets remaining after scoring 189/4 in 19.1 overs. Jos Buttler won the Player of the match award and it is quite fascinating to see two batters carrying their bat through the innings in the same match. It is almost like a good boxing bout where both the boxers have delivered huge punches to each other while one got knocked out.
