KKR has looked out of the match when Heinrich Klaasen took on Varun Chakravarthy and Mitchell Starc in the penultimate overs. He brought the equation down from 60 runs from 18 balls to 13 runs from final over. His shots against Mitchell Starc took the breathe out of KKR supporters and gave SRH supporters a new lease of hope.
But in the final over, Harshit Rana slowed down the pace and his clever change of pace proved hard for SRH batters to hit through. Earlier, SRH have won the toss and elected to field first. Dre Russ or Andre Russell helped KKR over 208/7 in 20 overs with his fifty. His innings became the difference between both the sides.
Still, SRH found Heinrich Klaasen did what Dre Russ did by scoring 63 runs off 29 balls to push SRH over 200. Mayank Agarwal(32) and Abhishek Sharma(32) gave a huge start to the chase. Shahbaz Ahmed(16) showed courage by hitting every ball he faced till he got out to boundaries.
Harshit Rana pulled the match back in the final over by taking 2 wickets and he even got Mayank Agarwal earlier. Sunil Narine proved that he is still a force and he bowled the best spell in the match. Andre Russell(2/25) and Harshit Rana(3/33) took the wickets while Starc and Chakravarthy had bad days mainly in the penultimate overs due to brilliance of Klaasen.
SRH scored 204/7 and KKR won the match by just 4 runs. This is the first last over thriller of IPL 2024. Looking at Klaasen and Russell hitting ball so long and striking so well, we can say that we are in for a treat when they are playing for their respective teams in upcoming matches. As anticipated Andre Russell is the player of the match.
