IPL 2024: Gill and Sudharsan stun CSK for GT

Gill and Sudharsan score centuries in GT big win

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan have been out of form for GT, this IPL 2024. Hence, they have been struggling to win matches and have been at the end of the table. Now, they needed to win against CSK to keep their chances alive like RCB, before the last week of the season. Both the openers have broken IPL records to win this match for GT at Ahmedabad against CSK.

After the previous final loss, GT have been able to get their big revenge putting CSK qualifying chances in jeopardy. Interestingly, CSK won the toss and elected to field first. Out of form openers of GT could have been put under pressure had CSK batted first. But with this decision, both of them got an opportunity to express themselves without any fear.

Mitchell Santner opened bowling again for CSK but Shubman Gill took on him and Sai Sudharsan got time to play himself into form. Both of them have put on 210 runs partnership in 17.2 overs. CSK bowlers did not have any kind of answers to their challenges. Shubman Gill scored 104 runs from 55 balls. Sai Sudharsan also scored 103 runs from 51 balls.

Gill and Sudarshan broke the IPL record for highest first wicket partnership of 142 runs between Saha and Gill. They even broke the IPL record of highest run partnership of 147 runs for any wicket as well.

In the chase, CSK lost early Ajinkya Rahane(1), Rachin Ravindra(1) and Ruturaj Gaikwad(0). So, they have been left chasing the game quite early. Daryl Mitchell(63) and Moeen Ali(56) tried their best with a 109-run partnership for 4th wicket. But Shivam Dube(21), Ravindra Jadeja(18) could not really make a huge impact.
