India Women have been able to win against Australia Women in the only Test. They wanted to continue to the same in ODI series as well. But Australia Women, who have mastered the white ball cricket triumphed easily against Indian challenge in the first ODI at Wankhede. Australia Women won the match by 6 wickets with 21 balls remaining.
India Women scored a considerably big score after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Yastika Bhatia(49) played a solid innings at the top. Shafali Verma(1), Richa Ghosh(21) and Harmanpreet Kaur(9) did not live up to the expectations. Jemimah Rodrigues played a beautiful ODI innings and scored 82 runs off 77 balls. Pooja Vastrakar at the fag end scored 62 runs off 46 balls. She pushed the score to 282/8 in 50 overs. Every Australian bowler took wickets except for Tahlia McGrath.
In the chase, Australia Women lost captain Alyssa Healy for a duck in the first over. India Women were pumped with such an early dismissal. But experienced player and Superstar Ellyse Perry has put on a partnership with Phoebe Litchfield. Both of them have put on 148 runs for the second wicket. Ellyse Perry got out after scoring 75 runs from 72 balls. Phoebe Litchfield also fell after scoring 78.
Beth Mooney(42) and Tahlia McGrath made it tough for India Women to come back into the game. Tahila McGrath finished the match for Australia by scoring 68 runs off 55 balls. Aus scored 285/4 in 46.3 overs. Despite relatively, big total, India Women could not restrict Aus from chasing it down. Phoebe won player of the match award for her innings.
