Angelo Mathews, the senior pro of the team, has come good showcasing his all-round abilities. He gave much required push to the score in the last overs for SL and then took wickets early with the ball. Actually, Afghanistan have won the toss and elected to field first. Pathum Nissanka(25), Kusal Mendis(23) gave an aggressive opening for SL in the powerplay.
Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 51 runs from 42 balls trying to support other batters. Angelo Mathews scored 42 runs from 22 balls and took the score to 187/6 in 20 overs. Mohammad Nabi(2/25), Azmatullah Omarzai(2/40), Fazalhaq Farooqi(1/31) and Naveen-ul-Haq(1/46) took wickets for Afghanistan.
Angelo Mathews opened the bowling and in his 2-over spell dimissed both openers of Afghanistan. Only batters, Mohammad Nabi(27) and Karim Janat(28) could score in double digits. Afghanistan got dismissed for 115 runs in 17 overs. SL won the match by 72 runs and all SL bowlers took wickets. Angelo Mathews won Player of the Match award for his performance.
