Aman Sehrawat dedicates his medal to his deceased parents

Aman Sehrawat, the 21-year old Indian wrestler, won his first Olympic medal for India at Paris Olympics 2024. He lost against Rei Hugichi of Japan in the Semi-Finals with a 0-10 scoreline. In the bronze medal match, he needed to defeat Darian Cruz from Puerto Rico for giving India sixth medal, in a near-miss edition of Olympics.

Indian contingent has come with huge hopes of at least winning 2-3 Gold medals and increase the tally to 10 or more from 7, in previous edition. But with many near misses and 4th place finishes, Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification, Aman Sehrawat raised hopes in 57 kgs freestyle category. He used his best techniques to overpower his opponent.

Aman Sehrawat clinched Bronze medal and dedicated it to his deceased parents. He lost them at the age of 11 and fought with depression to become a Olympic medalist at the age of 21. On top of that, the young wrestler had to lose 4.5 kgs over 10 hours to qualify for his final bout. Indian support staff did not take any chances with Aman’s qualification.
