Aiden Markram scores a fighting hundred against India

Aiden Markram had put on a show against Indian bowlers on Day 2 morning

Aiden Markram has been able to battle it out on a pitch that aided bowlers. On day one of the on-going Capetown Test, India and South Africa both have lost 23 wickets. India got bowled out for 153 after being 153/4 at one point. South Africa captain Dean Elgar, playing his last Test match, had decided to bat first upon winning the toss.

Unfortunately, he got out twice in the same day, to end his career as an opener. But South Africa ended up scoring their lowest total ever 55 in one session. India did not last long and scored only 153 on the same day. With 98 runs lead, India looked poised to win this Test rather easily. Aiden Markram has decided to give a great tribute to his retiring captain and he played a determined innings in adversity.

On a pitch where bowlers are running a muck, Markram counter-attacked and raised to century. Jasprit Bumrah for India, on the other end, kept taking wickets. Markram went after Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna and even Bumrah. He scored 106 in 103 balls and dedicated his century to Dean Elgar. On the other end, South African batters failed to score in double digits.

Bumrah took 6/61 to end the SA in a scurry again on Day 2. SA again got bowled out in a session before lunch. Mohammed Siraj once again got Markram and ended the horror for India. Prasidh Krishna got a wicket of Kagiso Rabada and Mukesh did not add to his wicket tally. South Africa got bowled out for 176 and took a lead of 78 runs. Indian team needs to score 79 runs to win and equal the Test Series by 1-1.
