Abhishek Sharma gave India huge win with maiden century

Abhishek Sharma after his IPL 2024 exploits made an impressive maiden T20I century against Zimbabwe. In the second T20I, Zimbabwean bowlers failed to contain Indian batters after a shocking defeat in first T20I. While Shubman Gill failed in this match, other three batters helped India score 234/2 and thereby win with massive 100 runs difference.

Going into the details, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Shubman Gill got dismissed for 2 runs from 4 balls. Young opener, Abhishek Sharma, who failed to open his account in first match, took advantage of chances he got. He took his time at the crease and even Ruturaj Gaikwad also assisted him taking his own time.

They both helped India reach 50 runs in 8.1 overs and Abhishek started to cut loose at this point. He scored 50 runs from 33 balls and then accelerated at breathtaking pace to score 100 runs from just 46 balls. He got out for the next ball by scoring 100 from 47 balls. After he got out, Ruturaj Gaikwad also started to accelerate.

He and Rinku Singh slammed Zimbabwean bowlers black and blue in the final overs. They both have put on 87 runs for unbeaten third wicket from 6 overs. Rinku Singh ended up scoring 48 runs from 22 balls while Ruturaj scored 77 runs from 47 balls. India ended up putting 234/2 from their 20 overs.

In the huge chase, Wessly Madhevere(43) and Brian Bennett(26) tried to give a solid start to Zimbabwe. Brain took on Abhishek Sharma, who started bowling proceeds for India. Mukesh Kumar sent him and Innocent Kaia back. Avesh Khan came on in the next over and sent back Dion Myers, Sikandar Raza in same over.

With no hope to give even a fight, Luke Jongwe(33) tried his best to give a respectable total to Zimbabwe. Still, they got bundled out for 134 and India won by 100 runs. They equalled the 5 T20Is series 1-1 with this win. Abhishek Sharma won Player of the Match award and thanked his parents, mentor Yuvraj Singh.
