Allu Sirish has been resorting to feature in remakes in recent times. He has decided to act in Buddy, which features a teddy bear that comes to life. With such an unique premise, the actor is expecting a huge blockbuster at the box office. Let’s talk about Buddy movie in detail.
Plot:
ATC, Air Traffic Controller, Pallavi(Gayatri Bharadwaj) decides to meet pilot Aditya(Allu Sirish) to express her love. But on her way, she gets kidnapped by an organ smuggling gang, who operate from Hong Kong. Unable to overpower them, she becomes Teddy Bear, gifted by Aditya.
She tries to find him in Vizag and find her body, so that she can wake up from coma. Now, Aditya has to fight with a ruthless smuggler yet a brilliant doctor(Ajmal Ameer) and a Mafia Don. Why the doctor’s gang kidnapped Pallavi and how Buddy helps Aditya? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Allu Sirish is good and fit in action sequences. But in emotional scenes he remained blank at crucial moments. Gayatri Bharadwaj is expressive but she did not get enough material. Prisha looked pretty. Mukhesh Rushi tried his hand at a comic role but it did not leave an impact. Ajmal Ameer performed well.
Ted filmmakers found an unadulterated way to deliver weird fantasy drama with Teddy Bear coming to life. But Buddy film tries to make this into another simple action film with organ smuggling as premise. The story and scenes remain predictable while narration is lackluster.
The narrative needed more imaginative scenes that parody of popular ones. Also, even though it is for children, the film doesn’t have many jokes that land even for them. Using such an unique premise, makers could have delivered a splendid fantasy drama.
But the screenplay lack any innovation and narrative is predictable as hell. Cinematography and production values are good yet writing underwhelms their efforts. On the whole, Buddy just remains a very lethargic product that doesn’t connect with us.
Positives:
Allu Sirish looks & action sequences
Ajmal Ameer performance
Production values
VFX using Teddy Bear
Negatives:
Unimaginative Writing
Lackluster Narrative
Songs & BGM
Sluggish Pacing
Buddy Movie Bottom-line: Un-friendly Buddy
