Gedela Srinubabu: Empowering Farmers and Fostering Growth in Vizianagaram

In a significant move towards revitalising the agricultural landscape of Vizianagaram, Gedela Srinubabu spearheaded a Farmers Empowerment Rally, attracting over 10,000 farmers and participants. The rally addressed critical challenges and proposed solutions to harness the vast cultivable land in the region.

Cultivating Opportunities: Tapping into Vizianagaram’s Agricultural Potential

Gedela Srinubabu highlighted the underutilization of available cultivable land in Vizianagaram, with 1 million acres at disposal but only 0.6 million acres under cultivation. Out of this, a mere 0.2 million acres have access to water resources. The need to optimise this potential was a key focus of the Rythu Sadassu, emphasising the importance of water-efficient farming practices.

Curbing Migration: Fostering Agricultural Industries

Expressing concern over the migration of 1 million people from Vizianagaram in the last 30 years, Srinubabu emphasised the urgency of establishing agriculture-based industries and processing centers. This strategic move aims to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their products, create local job opportunities, and mitigate the migration crisis in North Andhra.

Harnessing Human Capital: Creating Job Opportunities

With approximately 20,000 graduates, postgraduates, and professionals entering Vizianagaram annually, Gedela Srinubabu underscored the importance of utilising these resources effectively. He envisioned the creation of 70,000 jobs in the next 5 to 7 years, primarily focusing on agriculture, tourism, and forest-based industries. The potential to transform every farmer into a successful entrepreneur was a key takeaway from Srinubabu’s address.

Digitalizing Agriculture: Empowering Farmers through Technology

Drawing attention to the decline in the number of farmers and farming workers due to insufficient market access, Srinubabu advocated for digitalization. The vision involves empowering organic agricultural products through digital platforms and establishing agribusiness hubs in every mandal headquarters of Vizianagaram. This approach aims to provide fair prices to farmers and employment opportunities for local youth.

Several farmers and farmers administrative beurcarts were involved in the program. More than 10,000 farmers participated in farmer empowerment and minimised population migration.
